23 juli 2024 zag en hoorde ik reggaester Tiken Jah Fakoly met zijn acht-mans band in het Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. Voor diegenen die hem niet kennen: Tiken werd als Doumbia Moussa Fakoly geboren in een dorp in het noordwesten van Ivoorkust. In een familie die behoort tot de griotkaste! Als gevolg van zijn rebelse teksten moest hij uitwijken naar buurland Mali. Zijn eerste albums deden niet onder voor die van reggaester Alpha Blondy. In het concertgebouw liet hij vooral ook nummers horen van zijn laatste album “Acoustic”! Het was weer feest!
23 July 2024 I saw and heard reggae star Tiken Jah Fakoly with his eight-piece band at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. For those who do not know him, Tiken was born as Doumbia Moussa Fakoly in a village in the northwest of Ivory Coast. Into a family belonging to the griot caste! As a result of his rebellious lyrics, he had to defect to neighbouring Mali. His first albums rivalled those of reggae star Alpha Blondy. At the concert hall, he especially showed songs from his latest album “Acoustic”! It was party time again!
