In eerste instantie wilde hij ook voetballer worden, later koos hij toch voor de muziek. Onder zijn artiestennaam Matt Pokora nam hij in 2003 deel aan Popstars, een Frans talentenprogrmma! Daarna werd hij lid van de boyband Linkup, die hij samen met twee andere Popstars winnaars oprichtte. In 2004 startte hij zijn solocarrière!
