Deze week richt ik de spots op de Catelaanse fusionband El Pony Pisador (de Stampende Pony) uit Barcelona. In 2013 besloten Arria Vila en Ramon Anglada een band op te richten geinspireerd door de muziek van folkrockbands als Flogging Molly en the Dropkick Murphys. In 2016 brachten ze hun eerste album uit. De band bestaat is intussen uitgebreid met Guillem Codern op banjo, mondharmonica en zang, Miquel Perez op viool en percussie en Marti Selga op bas en fluit. Met hun mix van folk, bluegrass en zeemansliederen spelen ze heel wat festivals plat waaronder afgelopen weekend ook Lowlands!
This week, I’m shining the spotlight on the Catalan fusion band El Pony Pisador (“The Stomping Pony”) from Barcelona. In 2013, Arria Vila and Ramon Anglada decided to form a band inspired by the music of folk-rock bands such as Flogging Molly and the Dropkick Murphys. They released their first album in 2016. Since then, the band has expanded to include Guillem Codern on banjo, harmonica and vocals, Miquel Perez on violin and percussion, and Martí Selga on bass and flute. With their mix of folk, bluegrass and sea shanties, they have rocked many festivals — including Lowlands last weekend!
