Deze keer zet ik de Colombiaanse band Nuevos Rios in de spotlights! Een samenwerking van zangeres Nidia Gongora met de virtuoze muzikanten van Canaton de Timbiqui en het Franse trio Reco Reco! Hun muziek ontstond na een gezamenlijke sessie in het dorp Timbiqui aan de gelijknamige rivier in de Colombiaanse Pacific regio.De traditionele marimba’s, percussie en zang mixen ze met electronica en diepe baslijnen. Een mix van allerlei Zuid-Amerikaanse muziekstijlen waaronder natuurlijk cumbia!
This time, I’m shining the spotlight on the Colombian band Nuevos Rios! A collaboration between singer Nidia Gongora, the virtuoso musicians of Canaton de Timbiqui, and the French trio Reco Reco! Their music came about after a joint session in the village of Timbiqui, located on the river of the same name in the Colombian Pacific region. They blend traditional marimbas, percussion, and vocals with electronic elements and deep basslines. It’s a mix of all kinds of South American musical styles, including, of course, cumbia!
