Deze keer richt ik de spots op de Portugese zangeres Teresa Salgueiro uit Amadora. In haar jeugd werd ze beïnvloed door o.a. Amalia Rodrigues, maar ook Gal Costa en The Doors. Op jonge leeftijd ging ze al fado zingen met bossanova ritmes. Samen met gitarist Pedro Ayres Magalhaes richtte ze in 1987 de band Madredeus op. In 1994 speelde ze nog een rol in de film Lisboa Story van Wim Wenders. In 2005 startte ze haar solocarrière met haar album “Obrigado”. Intussen is ze zes albums verder met prachtige fado!
This time, I’m shining the spotlight on the Portuguese singer Teresa Salgueiro from Amadora. In her youth, she was influenced by artists such as Amália Rodrigues, as well as Gal Costa and The Doors. She began singing fado with bossa nova rhythms at a young age. Together with guitarist Pedro Ayres Magalhães, she founded the band Madredeus in 1987. In 1994, she also played a role in Wim Wenders’ film Lisboa Story. In 2005, she launched her solo career with her album “Obrigado”. Since then, she has released six more albums of beautiful fado!
